Full Diagnostic Assessment

£725 (including 30 minute follow up call)

This comprehensive assessment lasts approximately 3.5 hours, including short breaks.

It will involve a variety of tasks which help build a picture of your child’s cognitive profile (processing speed, phonological awareness, memory and attention). It will also look at language and reasoning skills as well as reading, writing and spelling. Maths and motor skills may also be assessed if appropriate.

Within three weeks of the assessment, you’ll receive a full report which includes:

  • A diagnosis - where there is sufficient evidence to diagnose dyslexia

  • A detailed report of strengths and weaknesses across cognitive abilities, language and reasoning skills, reading, writing, spelling, and if relevant maths or motor skills.

  • Suggested reasonable adjustments

  • Exam access arrangements (if appropriate)

  • Onward referrals to other professionals (if required)

  • Bespoke recommendations to support learning at home and school as well as specific recommendations for specialist teachers.

A 30 minute feedback meeting is included to talk through results, the recommendations and next steps. The aim is to ensure families and learners feel informed, supported, and confident moving forward.

How does it work?

  • A questionnaire will be emailed and must be completed by both parents and the school SENCo ahead of the assessment. This gathers background information which helps build an accurate and meaningful picture of your child’s learning profile.

Your child must have had an eye test within the last two years.

  • The assessment will last approximately 3 ½ hours, including short breaks. Your child will complete a series of activities to assess their cognitive abilities, language and reasoning skills as well as their reading, writing, spelling, and maths if appropriate.

If your child uses prescription glasses, coloured overlays or a particular pen grip in class, these should be brought along as well.

I can briefly offer initial thoughts after the assessment but will need time to analyse quantitative and qualitative findings before giving a diagnosis.

  • A full report — including a formal diagnosis where applicable — will be sent via email within 15 working days as a password-protected PDF. It will include a summary of key findings, detailed analysis of each area assessed and tailored recommendations for support at school, home, and through specialist tuition. It will also provide guidance on exam access arrangements where relevant.
